Before Noah Oppenheim was working in New York City as the man behind the scenes of the 7 o'clock hour of NBC's Today Show, he attended Harvard University, where he studied political philosophy and social studies. In addition, during his years at Harvard, he served as the Editorial Chair of The Harvard Crimson. He eventually earned his B.A. in Social Studies.
After college, and before he was a producer for NBC, Oppenheim worked in various print and broadcast outlets. Before he came to the Today Show, Oppenheim worked as the senior producer of “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and the executive producer of former congressman Joe Scarborough’s, “Scarborough Country,” a show that provided social commentary and analysis. Later on Oppenheim got involved in more political matters, from covering the ballot recount during the 2000 election, to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Outside of broadcast, Oppenheim has also become a prolific writer.
Beyond his works in broadcast, Oppenheim has authored numerous magazine articles and editorials for various notable publications. His writing covers national and international politics, and offers cultural and societal commentary; dealing with many aspects of American life, from history to academia to the purpose of the media and journalism. People can find some of Oppenheim's writing through the official Today Show blog, allDay. In addition, having been featured repeatedly in “Opinion Journal” from the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal, people can find some his work there as well. Having written many articles, it was only natural that Oppenheim would move on to writing his own book.
When Oppenheim's book, “The Intellectual Devotional” came out, it became a success virtually overnight. Oppenheim’s book has appeared in the best seller selections of: The New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.
